Thomas Sankara & Fela Kuti -- Never forgotten (Oct. 15)

The two African icons on this powerful picture, were tied by many beliefs, principles, and notably by this date: October 15.

Fela Kuti was born on a 15th of October, 1938 and lived close to 60 years on this earth - sharing his eclectic and genius talent, by pioneering the Afrobeat movement.

Thomas Sankara, president of Upper Volta, which he re-baptized  "the land of Men of Integrity," was tragically killed 28 years ago on the 15th of October 1987. His revolutionary spirit, sense of community, cultural pride, and progressive vision is still alive and vibrant in the generations of today. He is also known as the "Che" of Africa.
