Walking in the shadow of royalties and business tycoons

"Walking in the shadow of royalties and business tycoons" that's how I can summarize this wonderful, enriching and insightful weekend. From visiting the King of Bandjoun and his wife, the queen, to the warm welcome of the Sultan of Bamoun; and having a great time in the midst of some of Cameroon's top business tycoons - the ones who have built empires and cannot be found bragging on social media, lol (actually, all Cameroonians see their enterprises everywhere, everyday, but most don't even know what the individuals behind those businesses look like ) - in their way of being, they teach a lesson on humility, simplicity, let-your-work-speak-for-you , and their value of "earning what you have in life through hard work."

It is a great privilege to be able to call most of them "Papa," because they are constant living reminders of the possibilities and capacity of humans to go from nothing to riches : from the cable-guy to the man owning the number one TV station in the nation, from simple accountant to the man owning the widest network of money transfer in Central Africa, from a wheelbarrow pusher to the man owning one of the biggest construction pieces retail shop in the country. These self-made man, are examples of Cameroon's ingenuity. Just a few hours with them, and your perspectives and approach on life change.

One day, I hope and plan, to narrate some of their stories for young men and women of our generation to be inspired by their path, values, and accomplishments.

**This weekend, I also came to appreciate with my adult eyes, the importance of fathers empowering their children. My dad took us everywhere possible with him - from the time we could walk till now - if he had to meet the chief, the president, a minister, a business tycoon,an investor, business partners, he would unapologetically take us along. Till now, he has cultivated an environment of comfort, trust and love with his kids. That helps in building grounded children. That is one of those best practices of #parenting I will take along as I build the foundations of my family.
