The plague of plagiarism in the Internet Age

It's the 3rd time in one week that I repost Honore Fon's Facebook status, because he is a very witty intellectual and he speaks lots of sense, without copying-and-pasting from other sources (without crediting them). Today, he said it again as it is: NO to PLAGIARISM

I HATE plagiarism with a PASSION. When people copy-and-paste quotes, sayings, images, and more, without the decency of giving some tiny credit to their sources (It's as simple as: pasting the link of your source, or telling us it's via John Doe, or mentioning "A friend said this earlier..." just show some acknowledgement).

I have spoken my lungs out about plagiarism/idea-stealing/copycatting
Stolen Ideas. Source : ww.plagiarismchecker.net
without giving credits, for the past years. I had even bought a domain name called : idea-thiefing.com  (hehehe), but after not exploiting it for one year, I let go of the idea to create a platform on which people denounce plagiarism and 'ideas-thiefing'.

‪#‎Plagiarism‬ is not a simple "oups I forgot to mention x," it is a deliberate action, to disregard the source of the idea and to misappropriate the idea and misguide people into thinking the idea came from you. It is point-blank STEALING, nothing less. It is insulting to the mind, energy, zeal and open-hands of the person who produced the work/piece/thought/initiative/project and more. It is raping the human mind of its freedom to propose and share interesting ideas.

It is disrespectful and deceitful. It must be socially punished.Seriously, everyone who reads this must know better.
We ought to do better.

In short, Honore's status below explains it better than I can express it

"Dear friends,
I now have a new policy of unfriending and blocking any facebook friends who copy - paste stuff from my wall instead of sharing or at least mentioning the source. It is intellectually dishonest and unfriendly . Wont mention names.
If i am giving out stuff from my mind on facebook for free, at least you should be kind enough to acknowledge the source. People pay to watch Chris Rock, yet they expect to be paid to anknowledge something i conceived and shared on my wall for free? I also see and share a lot of stuff on fb and never have i ever denied my sources.
And for all who share my stuff with friends in the right way. Thank you all and lets keep sharing with honesty. God Bless.

NB: Feeling annoyed with those who copy-pasted my FIFA letter as if it were coming from them. Wonna check say ei easy for write protest letter?"
