2017 Solutionneurs' Competition (7th edition) -- Call to Partnership !

Since 2009, Harambe Cameroon has organized 6 social business competitions, to “inspire a new generation of Cameroonians who see problems as opportunities in need of solutions.” We are committed to inspiring, shaping and stimulating a vibrant generation of problem-solvers, also known as "Solutionneurs" ! 

 



Since then, every year more than 100 candidates apply to become the national “Solutionneurs” of the year. With our innovative approach to problem-solving, Harambe Cameroon has helped spark the entrepreneurial fire in the likes of :

In 2016, the Harambe team focused on launching its Harambe Ambassadors Mentorship Program. Today, we have 35 active Harambe Ambassadors in 7 regions of the country.

This year, 2017, Harambe will launch the National Solutionneurs Competition on March 15, with a callto submit executive summaries.
At the PROMOTE 2017 business fair, the Harambe team subscribed 240 Cameroonians interested in competing during the 2017 National Solutionneurs’ Competition.  

As such, and as always, we are making a call to partnership, from organizations, business and institutions that would like to tap into the Harambe database of Solutionneurs,  and more importantly to help with improving the problem-solving mindset and entrepreneurial actions of Cameroonian youth. Please express your interest in one or more of the proposed items :

A.    Mentorship and coaching     ::: Harambe is providing 3 coaches/graders :::

1.            
Reviewing and grading 100 executive summaries (phase 1)
2.            Reviewing and grading 20 business canvas (phase 2)
3.            Reviewing and grading 10 business plans (phase 3)    ü  The Synergie de la Jeunesse Camerounaise (SJC) in 2015 provided 2 coaches during the pre-selection phases. 

 
B.    Incentives for the competitors        ::: Harambe is providing 300.000 FCFA ($600) cash award and 200.000 FCFA ($400) in-kind contribution to the winning team :::
1)    Cash award for the best Solutionneurs in the selected fields
ü  Example: During the 2015 competition, Alain Rodrigue Ngonde (2011 Solutionneur) offered the 300.000 FCFA Environmental award.  
ü  SJC contributed 150.000 FCFA to the final cash award. 
ü  The Cameroon Professional Society (CPS) contributed 150.000 FCFA for the 2014 Innovation Prize. 

2)    Business development solutions for Top-5 companies
ü  In 2015, Ntarra.com offered free website development and domain hosting to the Top-3 enterprises.  

3)    Marketing space/incentive
ü  Since 2014,Fondation Inter-Progress supports Harambe by offering free marketing space, via their free booth, during their annual fairs (YAFE) and biennial trade fair (PROMOTE)  

4)    Venue Partner:
ü  The S.T.Muna Foundation has been a partner of the Solutionneurs competition since 2010. From the 1stedition to the 6th edition. In 2017, this partnership will be extended to their affiliate center: Terminal A studios.
5)    Media partners :
ü  InspireAfrika was Harambe’s media partner in 2015. The competition has been relayed by LeJour, Le Messager, New TV and Canal 2.
6)    Legal Advising
ü  The Muna&Muna Foundation offered in 2015, a lawyer to advise the Top-10 teams on legal procedures when they establish their enterprises.

7)    Scholarships
ü  CIFADDEG offered 5 scholarships for their Business Plan Course, worth $500 each, to the Top-5 finalists of the Solutionneurs’ Competition.

8)    Others
ü  Alain Nteff’s (Harambean 2013) company ‘giftedMom’ offered documentation on business and entrepreneurship to all the Solutionneurs’ participants in 2015.
    
C.    Post-Solutionneurs Competition follow-up    ::: Harambe is providing 2 coaching sessions per month, Marketing space at the Harambe booth in YAFE 2017, and office space + internet to the Top startups based in Yaounde :::
      i.      Coaching sessions (at least twice a month / 2-hours’ time slot)
Ø  Provide coaching in a specific field: Marketing, Finance, Business models, Legal field, Technology, Networking, Community (Social media) management, leadership, etc.  

ii.       Co-working Space (office space for one or more of the Top-5 finalists)
Ø  Offer a space (cubicle/table/conference hall/internet) to the top-5 finalists for 6, 9 or 12 months.

iii.      Marketing, Advertisement and Publicity tools and platform
Ø  Offer the Top-3 finalists tips, tools, and space to expose their product/service to a wider audience.

iv.     Technical, Legal or Administrative
Ø  Offer the Top-3 finalists technical support, e.g. in ITC , programming/coding, to upgrade their product/services
Ø  Offer to legalize the winning team’s company as a SARL.  
                      v.       Others
